Did you know you always have to include bibliographic references ?

Did you know you always have to include bibliographic references ?

Besides supporting your facts and helping you check that students haven’t simply cut and paste their homework, bibliographic references serve other purposes as well. By indicating the bibliographic details for the excerpts you use and the documents you cite, you’re actually meeting a requirement under the Copyright Act.

The Act gives authors a “right of paternity”, which means they have the right to claim authorship of their works and ensure that their name is associated with those works.

But it isn’t just about authors’ rights. Including bibliographic references is an easy, effective way to showcase creators’ work and introduce new audiences to the creators you already appreciate! That recognition can be invaluable!

To find out what you should include in a complete bibliographic reference, please refer to the information on our website!
