Digital developments on the fast track and $10 million in royalties paid out

Service offering for the education sector

To meet the urgent needs of educational institutions that had to quickly deploy remote learning, Copibec expanded its service offering so that virtual classes could be held while continuing to ensure copyright compliance and compensation for copyright owners.

At the same time, our DONA platform was developed to provide convenient, legal access to digital content compatible with reading assistive technology. The DONA platform enables thousands of Quebec students with perceptual disabilities to use the same books and exercise books as their classmates.

Direct deposit payments

Since it was no longer possible to pay royalties by cheque because of the public health measures in effect, implementing direct deposit payments became a necessity. As a result, over $10 million in royalties were distributed to copyright owners during the 2021-2021 fiscal year.
