Between Determination and Disappointment, Copibec Also Makes its Voice Heard

Between Determination and Disappointment, Copibec Also Makes its Voice Heard

On April 30, Copibec took part in an event organized by the Association of Canadian Publishers in Ottawa. The simple yet highly effective, and I’d go so far as to say fruitful, formula consisted in meeting in small groups with representatives of various ministries, directors and others to discuss Bill C-27.

Although AI was at the heart of our discussions, we could not fail to express our great disappointment at the latest budget, which ignored our demands for reform of the Copyright Act. I would like to thank all participants for their invaluable collaboration, exchanges and solidarity. A wave of hope almost floated over Parliament Hill.

Copibec continues its involvement in the cultural community, and will shortly be awarding a bursary for the Magazine of the Year prize as part of SODEP’s 2024 Awards of Excellence, as well as two additional bursaries at the 25th edition of the Bédélys Awards.
