PRESS RELEASE

Montreal, June 25, 2024
 – Copibec’s Annual General Meeting was held on June 19 in a room at the Montreal CoWork collective space, bringing together nearly twenty delegates to receive a review of the organization’s achievements.

At the meeting, national public affairs and strategic communications firm PAA presented its strategies for reforming the Copyright Act in preparation for the next economic statement and the 2025 election.

Ysolde Gendreau, professor at the Université de Montréal Faculty of Law, closed the general meeting with a lecture on the 100th anniversary of the coming into force of the Copyright Act, offering a historical and contemporary perspective on this crucial legislative framework for creators.

Nadine Gelly, consultant with Ryan Affaires publiques, presented the Governance Committee’s update of the by-laws, which was approved by the members of the assembly.

“Despite the intense heat outside, Copibec members kept a cool head and adopted their association’s new by-laws. A major change in our organization. Copibec is finally entering the 2.0 era. All the members of the Board are proud of the work accomplished and are confident for the future.”
