November

November

It looks like November is gracing us with its new, unpredictable temperature records for this taciturn time of year. And so much the better, as it allows us to appreciate the good times at Copibec.

A month after the 2024 IFRRO World Congress and international symposium, we recently issued a press release announcing an agreement with La Sofia for the payment of French public lending rights for Quebec authors. Excellent news!

Many of you have been listening to our podcast series, Copyright Law: A Century of Stories. Indeed, to date, there have been almost 30,000 listens on all platforms. It’s a great success for Copibec’s first foray into the podcast market. And as of today, the series is available on QUB. More news to come in 2025.

I’m also very proud to announce a new partnership with Éducaloi, a reference with whom we’ll be working to demystify some of the basics of copyright law. Stay tuned!

On November 11, Copibec convened its partner organizations to take part in a table on AI and copyright. It’s crucial to reiterate the importance of protecting works in this new context of unauthorized use with AI. If you have any questions on this subject, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@copibec.ca.

Make the most of the book fair season to fill up on new discoveries!
