Authors and publishers hold copyright on their creations, and receive remuneration for their work.
Two types of royalties in one payment
1. Education Payment
Authors and publishers receive royalties for the use of their works in the education sector, in accordance with agreements signed by Copibec with the Ministries of Education and Higher Education.
2. Forfait Livres
Every day, thousands of organizations in Quebec photocopy, digitize and share excerpts from books. Copibec is unable to trace every use made in Quebec, and compensates for this practice by paying royalties to copyright holders every two years.
Make sure that all your eligible works are registered in your account in order to receive your payment. To find out which books are eligible, please consult the payment terms and conditions.
Please note that if you receive both the Education Payment and the Forfait Livres payment, they will be combined into one payment. However, the amounts will be shown separately on your statement.
